My Alzheimer's Association Benefit Teddy Bear
I'd like to introduce my second annual Alzheimer's Association Benefit Teddy Bear. He is being auctioned on eBay, with the proceeds from the sale going to the NM Alzheimer's Association via Memory Walk (which will be held on June 5th), and my Memory Walk team.
Felted Crochet Teddy Bears are made with wool or wool blended with other natural fibers. They may be felted lightly, with the crochet stitches very visible, or heavily where you hardly see the crochet stitches at all. Most are fully thread or cotter pin jointed. They are stuffed with polyester fiber-fil. Thread sculpting is often used on the faces & paws. These collectable One-of-A-Kind Artist Teddy Bears combine techniques of crochet, felted (or fulled) crochet, teddy bear, doll making, & others.  The facial features are hand embroidered & many also have hand embroidered claws.  Most have plastic safety eyes.  (However, they are not suitable for small children).  All bears come with a COA.

This felted bear is crocheted with 100% wool in a medium brown color. The crochet stitches are still lightly visible. The head is cotter pin jointed and the arms and legs are thread jointed. The face and toes are sculpted and the paws have hand embroidered claws. The seated measurement is 6" high & 9" standing. Must be propped to stand. Please click on photos for more views.

Please note: Bears are intended for the adult collector and are not meant for young children as they contain many small parts.
Hope was a one-of-a-kind artist teddy bear & my first sewn teddy offered to the public.  She was from a prototype pattern I designed myself & from a fabric I simulated to look like chenille.  She was lined and double stitched at all her seams.  The paw pads were denim with the claws & pads cut out & layered over brown cotton. All joints were metal & fibreboard discs with lock nuts & bolts.  She was stuffed with poly-fil & poly-pellets.  She had black safety eyes and her nose & smile were hand embroidered.  She was 15 & 1/2 " when standing.  Hope found a wonderful home with Marsha.
